Habit: Shrub 2 - 3 m high; branchlets 4-angled, greypubescent when young and terete when mature. Leaves: Leaves opposite, elliptic-lanceolate, cuneate abase, undulate, crenate at margin, acuminate at apexminutely appressed hairy along the nerves beneath; 14pairs; petiole. Spikes solitary, axillary, 2 per node. Flower: Flowers cream-white; bracts largely ovate, 3 cm long; bracteoles lanceolate. Calyx 5-partite, lobelanceolate, villous at margin. Corolla 2-lipped, upper lishortly 2-lipped, 5-ripped, purple, lower lip deeply 3lobed, central lobed purple striate. Stamens 2; filament slenader, 2 cm long, hairy, below; anther ovate 2-cellshortly apiculate at apex. Disc cup like. Fruit: Ovary oblong-ellipsoid, hairy; 2-loculed; ovules per each cell; style slender, sparsely ciliate; stigma subcapitate, shortly 2-lobed.
