Habit: Narrowly conical tree grows up to 30-60m height, bark dark brown, rough, papery and peeling off in to thin strips, resin present. The horizontal branches are in whorls around the upright trunk. Leaves: spirally arranged overlapping leave, Young leaves are needle like and matured leaves lanceolate-ovate to triangular. Flower: Male cones are smaller, numerous , drooping, scaly, cylindrical and hang from the lower branches, scaly and foxtail like in appearance. Female cones are egg shaped, scaly and located in the upper branches. Fruit: No fruit formation. Seeds: No seed formation. | |
