Habit: 20 m tall, grey with well-defined leaf scars. Leaves: leaves petiole and sheath, robust, bright yellow, leaflets apices acute and entire or splitting longitudinally with age, Rachilla bracts forming pits containing a cincinnus of 4 – 7 flowers. Flower: Pistillate inflorescences usually spicate, 5 – 20 flowers arranged spirally. Staminate flowers exserted from pits, calyx divided into three sepals, petal lobes with stamens 6, anthers, pistillode minute. Fruits: massive, yellowish black, ovoid and rounded or flattened at the apex; produced inside persistent perianth segments; epicarp coriaceous, mesocarp pulp yellow | |
